Associate of Technical Studies
Fundamentals
The Associate of Technical Studies (ATS) program is available for adult students whose educational objectives and interests cannot be met through one of the formal associate degree programs. This program enables students to combine certifications (institutional, state, national) earned through an educational entity or a place of employment, with general education courses to meet the associate degree requirements
Associate of Technical Studies Education Options
Option 1
Completion of a minimum of 30 credit hours with at least one, but no more than three, major areas of study and reflecting a reasonable array of courses within each area of study. There must be at least 30 semester credits clearly identifiable with a career objective.
Option 2
Up to 30 credits of “block credit” for individuals with educational and occupational experiences not previously granted college credit. This can include training programs, professional certifications and/or licensure in a technical field such as Robotics and Automation Technology, Building Maintenance Technology, Dental Assisting or Cosmetology.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Associate of Technical Studies degree, students should demonstrate:
- The ability to make qualitative and quantitative judgments;
- The ability to utilize critical thinking and analytical skills;
- The ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and authentic manner;
- The ability to describe cultural differences and how those differences affect the individual and society; and
- The student will demonstrate technical proficiency.
